Full Focus

Rejuvenated from my reflexology session reminiscent of a medieval Iron Age torture chamber the day was young and I was heading to Sentosa Island.

After meeting up with Clemens and my new friends we headed off to Catherine’s place for some dinner. Well not quite. Pizza was on the menu so I had dinner before meeting up with everyone. Her family is from Norway, which I thought was pretty cool. At her place before we left Canada, Germany, Austria, Norway, and Singapore were represented.

We just barely missed the bus, so we caught 2 cabs to the grounds for the festival. Here are some of the first things we saw:

Shortly after arriving we seemed to get split up. I ended up running into Deb at one point and spent time with her and a few of her friends. I also ran into some other models I worked with in previous weeks.

As the night went on, things kept getting more incredible. For example fireworks, some gymnast on a balloon way overhead.  The venue was incredible for all this too, 3 stages spanning across the beach with different DJ’s at different locations. Me being the huge dance music guy I am didn’t know pretty much any of them, but after most the night you start to recognize some sampling of our favourite songs from the radio.

After that as I was walking back to the main stage I was pulled into the SingTel VIP tent. I met some more new friends there and spent close to 2 hours with them. They all worked for SingTel or universal studios. The more friends the merrier.

The night of dance and music was endless, but as always a good thing must come to an end. Staying out all night once again made me incredibly tired for another day.

Reflexing those muscles

My apologies for the tardiness in posts the last 2 days, I will try to make it up to you.

Saturday morning I had an appointment to get the 3rd twinrix injection. One more to go next year and I am all covered.  As you may recall my first experience, I passed out.  Since that point I have feared the same outcome. Before hand I made sure I had several glasses of water, a big hearty breakfast, and a snack.

I saw a different doctor this time. He sat me on the chair, I told him about my vasovagal and we chatted about nutrition. The doctor actually recommended I talk to the hospital and maybe work there haha. I have discovered that it is much easier just to tell people I am on holidays then have to explain and feel arrogant for talking about my current career choice. It’s no shame, but I dislike the stigma that surrounds modeling. Jab! All good. He sent me on my way, but I asked if I could just chill there for a bit, make sure I am 100%.

Following my jab (that’s what everyone calls it here. Kind of like toilet rather than restroom or bathroom or washroom), I stopped by the place next door. A foot reflexology place. I inquired about an appointment and was asked if I could come back in half an hour.

Upon my return an older woman greeted me, maybe late 60’s or even early 70’s. She spoke very limited English but came across very nice and polite.  What I didn’t know was the masochist hidden inside her.

After having your feet wiped clean, one is wrapped in a towel to keep warm. Using her fist like a hammer, my calves get pounded and well as the bottom of my feet. This wasn’t the painful part yet.

I am not an expert, but my understanding of reflexology is that certain points on your feet correspond to different parts of the body. Your Qi is the life force that keeps your body going, and that you body cannot heal without proper balance of Qi. The pain you feel in certain places is associated with the imbalance.

Each press of her knuckle made me squirm. She would press and look at me smile then press harder and watch me lose my mind in pain. With the limited English I didn’t tell her any of my history. During this session, she picked up on my plugged sinus from the cats, my knee, my lower back, and at the very end as she was working on my knee she pointed out my right shoulder an injury from years ago that still causes discomfort for me. This was actually her biggest concern and she said I need to do a full body massage to help it. We will see when I get busier and make more money.

And a quick preview of Zoukout:
