Monday I did my normal morning routine, and then headed to
the agency to meet up with the ladies. They had some good news for me I have
been booked for a job. Saturday I will be helping with a MRT event at the new
station. I have also been booked for some fight club thing, although I don’t
have the details yet. We also went over my pics from the shoot with Nino. Here
is the one they liked the most.
Finally they informed me I would be getting a roommate. A
bit of a bummer after a month and a half I have to start sharing a room, but so
is life. I will have another buddy is how I look at it, so long as he isn’t
some crazy dude or can’t speak English.
I wandered around Chinatown after my stop at the agency and
the Lunar New Year is in the air. I found out what the flags mean, they are
symbols of a particular clan or church and meant to be worship to descendants.
Chinatown is sprinkled with gold and red, melon seeds, oranges and treats. It
was amazing to see how active this area of town has become over the past month.
I tried these treats that are glutinous rice, coconut milk and chocolate or
fruit or red bean. They were not overly sweet, which was good, but too chewy
for me.
In the evening I met up with Aska to grab a bite and a beer.
Dinner was good, but nothing to write home about so I am not going to. While
having a beer we met a couple from Eastern Europe that were just killing time
before they long flight home. I was in the bathroom and noticed this sign. Likely a lost in translation but can you spot the error.* see bottom.
Tuesday, was a tough day, it was a 2 a day workout. These
are intense and fun, but do they ever leave you exhausted, I spent about 2
hours in the gym, some of it was fight conditioning which was pretty fun. I
discovered I am terrible at throwing combinations. In the evening I had made
plans to help Blaire at Ikea.
Normally I avoid Ikea at all costs, but adventure adventure
adventure. We spent about 2 hours walking around there, getting lost multiple
times. What is a trip to Ikea when you don't get lost multple times? After some
humming and hawing we found a dresser, desk, chair, and mirror for her. The
hardest part was probably fining a suitable chair. I think it certainly would
have taken longer if there weren’t two of us there. Upon determining the
delivery date of the stuff it was discovered it would be almost 3 weeks if they
were to build it for her, so in light of that I offered to build the Ikea stuff
for her. It’s like Lego for grown ups, I find it fun. I also don’t feel lazy if
I help out with these kinds of things. For all that Blaire and her friends have
done for me to feel welcome I have no problem doing this. So Sunday that is my
plan.
Both of us were hungry after all that Ikea and we ended up
at a Japanese/Korean fusion BBQ restaurant. The food was good here, but what
made this episode was that I tried beef tongue. Yum!
I also discovered that I had an invite to Wicked. Those that
know me know back home a musical, haha no chance. But yet again open-minded and
adventure is how I am treating this trip.
I almost forgot, I found this. The biggest problem with natural peanut butter is the darn oil that sits on the top and having to mix it. Seems that Asia found the solution without adding ingredients.
* Dictionary definition of Alleviate: to make less severe. So if I throw towels into the toilet, it will fix the toilet, why wouldn't I do that then.
